Mew-Genics Demonstrates How New Kittens Are Made, More Or Less

Mew-Genics is a cat breeding simulator of sorts by indie developer Team Meat, the game is a bit like a cross between The Sims and Pokemon with a sprinkling of Animal Crossing and a dash of Tamagotchi, but at its core the game really isn’t like anything we’ve seen before.

The game centers around a few key aspects, cat breeding, cat relationships, the horrors of cat genetic manipulation and, as the below .gif demonstrates, the adorably icky parts of cat birth.

It’s important to note that as the kitten unceremoniously plops onto the ground he now bears his mother’s spots, but since his father is nearly all white, the lil’ fella’s spots are less prevalent than they were in the prior generation. As Team Meat explains, this (and every other trait the kitten inherits) may change as the cat ages and breeds with other cats.

Team Meat says that there’s nearly limitless combinations of breeding characteristics, from downright cute and cuddly, to mutant kittens that are hard to love. While no official release date has been set, Mew-Genics is currently slated for release at some point in 2014 for Mac, PC, and Steam.
